The Scoop on Singles.net
Mandi on Apr 5th 2008 11:41 pm
I had never tried Singles.net before, but thought I would give it a shot. I signed up for the free trial, and then had something else to do. I hadn’t completed my profile AT ALL. We are talking blank, not a detail about me, and had not uploaded a photo. With in 10 minutes of joining, I had 9 new messages. Really? Nothing about me on my profile, for all they know I could be an 800 pound, drooling mass murderer.
Then I thought, well, let’s give this a better shot. And I uploaded a photo. Then once again, I got bored and didn’t really do anything more with it. Now I’m looking at about 40 emails in the past few days. In fact, as I have been writing this entry (I’m also logged into the site have been for about 5 minutes) I’ve gotten 4 messages; I’ll update the total at the end.
Wow, I must be pretty hot stuff! Is it my charm, my wit? Or is it the fact that I have a pulse? So far, I am getting the feeling that this site is more of a one night stand stomping ground without the drink specials or loud music. However; I want to be fair to a new site, so I am going to fill out my profile and then see what kind of response I get.
So far, no one that has sent me a message has really caught my eye. Of course, I may be basing that on the fact that they are messaging me while knowing nothing about me.
Have you tried Singles.net? If so, I would love to hear what you thought of it. If not, try it out – there’s a free trial we’ve posted here. We would love your feedback, and at the very least, you’ll feel popular right away! One benefit that I see already is that you don’t always have to pay for the service to use it. It looks like I can respond to any “Featured Member” (read: paying) for free. This is a great way to evaluate a site and give it a fair shot. I always try to take advantage of specials and freebies before unleashing the power of Visa. (And don’t forget to read Do Not Fall For This Online Dating Scam! before you pay for any membership!)
I’ll follow up to this post in a week or two to let you know how Singles.net worked for me once my profile is complete. And final tally for messages while writing this is 14!

I was so turned off by singles.net that I deleted my profile within a day. My feeling was there's a bunch of guys just lurking online, waiting for some unsuspecting woman to register so they can zero in on her. I removed our ad for the site, also, since I didn't think it represented a good option.
Kay, et al, i really agree with you. I am a guy and have been on singlesnet ( i mean spam) net for about 6 months now and now i know why it's so in expensive. more than 70% of the woman have children and are 25 or younger. Also they may say they are from your home town, when in fact they are from nigeria, england or some other country but promise to come back ( insert your city here) within the next few days. Then they tell you some story about their parents dying in a fire, or car accident and need your help to pay for their airline ticket since they have some issue with their visa/passport. and my favorite is when they don't provide any photos since 'they don't like talking pics' translation they are fugly. so i will sign up for match.com or some other comparable site soon at least they have a guarantee, is spamming included
if anyone reading this wants to chat with a normal and funny guy, email me arpi79@gmail.com
arpad - Thanks for your input! This is the kind of thing we need to know about. As a woman, I found match.com to be pretty normal; a lot of the guys act like players but they've told me a lot of the women post some pretty revealing pics, so it goes both ways.
A normal and funny guys sounds pretty good! Ladies?
the place is full of scamers, never met a real person. Looks like the site is just generating flirts.
scam all the way through, waste of money
I just want you to know that I found My Mr Right on SinglesNet 2 and a half year ago and we are getting married in march of 2009. There are good people on the Net it just takes timing and luck…
Happy in Ft. Myers, Fl.
@Jeff - I thought so too, but then read Teresa's comment below yours…

Well,I don't know how singles.net is now but when I used it a year ago I did the whole free thing and just talked to featured members and it seemed pretty legit. I dated quite a few normal, sweet guys from there but one really caught my eye before I was about to give up on dating. Sure all the other guys were sweet but there was something about this one guy. Well now its been a year and few weeks that we've been together. We are engaged and hoping to get married by sometime next year. Singles.net worked for me but then again that was a year ago so I don't really know how it is now. I would say don't pay just do the free sign up for awhile.Although I used singles.net I also used match.com and that one I think is well worth your money than singles.net.
Ruby, that is wonderful you met someone! Congratulations!Different sites work for different people. There are always weirdos lurking on the dating sites, and sometimes they ruin it for the nice people. Thanks for your great comment - it's always so encouraging to hear success stories!
