True.com – Just Another Sex Site

image I am really disgusted with true.com.

All their affiliate ads are sexually provocative and aimed toward men, and now this comes along…sponsored by true.com.

My personal feeling is this group is such a sell-out. They claim they check for married people and criminals, but ads like this make me think they’re out for the lowest common denominator.

My suggestion is to avoid true.com and their sister sites like the plague!

Joining Chemistry.com

You can’t get this directly from their site, but Chemistry.com has the following offer:

Three months for the price of one on Chemistry.com! You save more than 50%!

Since that’s a really good deal, I updated my profile yesterday, and they have since come up with 5 matches and 2 other guys that are interested in me. So I’m going to join today and see what happens. Sigh.

How Chemistry.com Works

Chemistry.com is not as wide open as Match.com, although they are affiliated. On Chemistry.com you take a personality test, and they match you with others. No trolling through profiles or having hundreds of creepy guys perusing yours.

Online Dating – A Small World After All

small worldOne of the reasons I like online dating is the somewhat more anonymous nature. Rejection is easier – because you never have to see that person again.

Or So You Think!

What happens when you come across a profile of someone you know from OUTSIDE the online dating world?

Do you

  • message them and see if you hit if off?
  • ignore them and pretend you didn’t see it?
  • secretly look at their profile and hope they look at yours?
  • delete your profile, blow up your computer and move to Antarctica?

Chemistry.com

3 Months for the Price of 1

Chemistry.com has a great Olympics deal going on right now – 3 months for the price of 1!

This online dating site started as an offshoot of Match.com, with a different focus. On Chemistry.com, you take a fun test where you pick men (or women) that you find attractive. They then try to match you up with the types of people that match what you initially were drawn to. When you log in you’re presented with photos and profiles of these people, and you can indicate whether or not you feel you

Singles and Social Networking

A Whole New Way to Meet People

The scope of online dating is really so much wider than just sites like E-Harmony, Match and PerfectMatch. On one hand, I really think the fact that EVERYONE uses the Internet, and it is now considered so much more legitimate than it was 10 years ago has really reduced the stigma of online dating. It has also opened up a whole new way to meet new people.

What is a social network?

Here’s a great video that explains how social networks work, and how they can be beneficial:
