The Scoop on Singles.net

I had never tried Singles.net before, but thought I would give it a shot. I signed up for the free trial, and then had something else to do. I hadn’t completed my profile AT ALL. We are talking blank, not a detail about me, and had not uploaded a photo. With in 10 minutes of joining, I had 9 new messages. Really? Nothing about me on my profile, for all they know I could be an 800 pound, drooling mass murderer.

Then I thought, well, let’s give this a better shot. And I uploaded a photo. Then once again, I got bored and didn’t really do anything more with it. Now I’m looking at about 40 emails in the past few days. In fact, as I have been writing this entry (I’m also logged into the site have been for about 5 minutes) I’ve gotten 4 messages; I’ll update the total at the end.

Wow, I must be pretty hot stuff! Is it my charm, my wit? Or is it the fact that I have a pulse? So far, I am getting the feeling that this site is more of a one night stand stomping ground without the drink specials or loud music. However; I want to be fair to a new site, so I am going to fill out my profile and then see what kind of response I get.

So far, no one that has sent me a message has really caught my eye. Of course, I may be basing that on the fact that they are messaging me while knowing nothing about me.

Have you tried Singles.net? If so, I would love to hear what you thought of it. If not, try it out – there’s a free trial we’ve posted here. We would love your feedback, and at the very least, you’ll feel popular right away! One benefit that I see already is that you don’t always have to pay for the service to use it. It looks like I can respond to any “Featured Member” (read: paying) for free. This is a great way to evaluate a site and give it a fair shot. I always try to take advantage of specials and freebies before unleashing the power of Visa. (And don’t forget to read Do Not Fall For This Online Dating Scam! before you pay for any membership!)

I’ll follow up to this post in a week or two to let you know how Singles.net worked for me once my profile is complete. And final tally for messages while writing this is 14!

I was so turned off by singles.net that I deleted my profile within a day. My feeling was there’s a bunch of guys just lurking online, waiting for some unsuspecting woman to register so they can zero in on her. I removed our ad for the site, also, since I didn’t think it represented a good option.

  2. arpad says:

Kay, et al, i really agree with you. I am a guy and have been on singlesnet ( i mean spam) net for about 6 months now and now i know why it’s so in expensive. more than 70% of the woman have children and are 25 or younger. Also they may say they are from your home town, when in fact they are from nigeria, england or some other country but promise to come back ( insert your city here) within the next few days. Then they tell you some story about their parents dying in a fire, or car accident and need your help to pay for their airline ticket since they have some issue with their visa/passport. and my favorite is when they don’t provide any photos since ‘they don’t like talking pics’ translation they are fugly. so i will sign up for match.com or some other comparable site soon at least they have a guarantee, is spamming included :-)

if anyone reading this wants to chat with a normal and funny guy, email me arpi79@gmail.com

  3. Kay says:

arpad – Thanks for your input! This is the kind of thing we need to know about. As a woman, I found match.com to be pretty normal; a lot of the guys act like players but they’ve told me a lot of the women post some pretty revealing pics, so it goes both ways.

A normal and funny guys sounds pretty good! Ladies?

the place is full of scamers, never met a real person. Looks like the site is just generating flirts.
scam all the way through, waste of money

    Happy in Ft. Myers, Fl.

Well,I don’t know how singles.net is now but when I used it a year ago I did the whole free thing and just talked to featured members and it seemed pretty legit. I dated quite a few normal, sweet guys from there but one really caught my eye before I was about to give up on dating. Sure all the other guys were sweet but there was something about this one guy. Well now its been a year and few weeks that we’ve been together. We are engaged and hoping to get married by sometime next year. Singles.net worked for me but then again that was a year ago so I don’t really know how it is now. I would say don’t pay just do the free sign up for awhile.Although I used singles.net I also used match.com and that one I think is well worth your money than singles.net.

  10. Kay says:

Ruby, that is wonderful you met someone! Congratulations!Different sites work for different people. There are always weirdos lurking on the dating sites, and sometimes they ruin it for the nice people. Thanks for your great comment – it’s always so encouraging to hear success stories!

  11. Chris says:

I so agree with what I’ve read here. I started the free trial yesterday. I was short on time so didn’t write anything yet or add a photo. I’ve gotten probably 50 responses (that’s a guess). The odd thing is some commented they like my picture (I didn’t post one) and others said the wanted to meet/talk etc. but their profile stated they wouldn’t respond to anyone without a picture or they only wanted to meet women in a certain age group of which I was not. I say Singles.net is fraud. They’re dishonest and taking advantage of their customers. I’m glad I read what was written above and will remove my ad.

  12. weary says:

Singlesnet is a scam….. They are not even a real site. This site is being accussed of stealing identities and many other unethical things. They have spam bots that generate fake adds for fake people… Google it and you will see how horrible they are..I repeat it is not a real site. The people are not real.. They are linked to locals.net and friendfinder.net and friendjungle.net. YOU WILL NEVER MEET A REAL PERSON ON THESE SITES. Also they post fake adds on CraigsList and other free personal sites. All they want is your information. I sent one threat about thier missdoings and they deleted my account. If you do not believe me try and get intouch with anyone from singlesnet or its fellow sites.. Gl and trust me they are the worst kind of people on the net…If you paid to use thier site then you already know..

  13. Brianna says:

I’d like to say that I signed up for singlesnet.com a while ago…I was about to give up with all of the weird emails I was getting from freaky guys, but I found someone that I actually liked. We’ve been together for a while now, and I am completely in love with him! It might not work for all people, maybe I just got extremely lucky, but I thank God every day that I signed up, because without it I’d probably still be alone. Now I couldn’t be happier if I tried.

  14. Kay says:

Brianna, that is wonderful! Sometimes it seems like a crap shoot, doesn’t it. I met my wonderful husband on OK Cupid! and it was probably just luck, but I thank God I met him. That’s why it’s worth trying different services, even though it can get frustrating and depressing – you just never know when or where you might find love.

  15. Stan says:

Singles.net, a scam. Signed up for $19.95 and was billed $25. Now that’s not a lot of difference but it’s false advertising, a LIE and a SCAM.
Not the upside: I scanned over 1,500 “hits” and found five that I might be able to carry on a conversation with. Lot of desparate, needy folk paying too much.
    I did.

  16. Michelle says:

I have never signed up for online dating and now I am receiving mail from them. How the %@#$ did they get my address let alone anything else.

  17. Kay says:

That’s really bad to overbill you!

  18. Kay says:

Michelle- they probably got your name from a mailing list they bought.

  19. Bartek says:

I joined friendjungle. First week – 15 mails. WOW! Next week – 18. I have to be hot :) )) More then 1/3 of girls were ebony or Asian beauties from many villages and towns of my country (Poland). Mmmm… how sweet….
But there is one “little” problem… Poland is 100% WHITE country. We just have no racial minorities among us (too bad… :) ) ) . I got many mails from those “Polish” girls. Every time in English, what was enough strange. I have answered every time, and i have gently asked what from they are. No answer. This site is one big lie.
    greetings :)

  20. Kay says:

Bartek – thanks for sharing your experience. So many of these sites are ripoffs!

  21. Tim says:

I have used singlesnet.com myself. I will say it is a little misleading in how it works. I was a featured member once. On of the first rules I learned. Look at the profiles. If they are not featured members and only have one pic of a way hot woman. it is a scam. Also make sure to ask them specific questions of what they like to do in the city. If it is overly vague or if they dont’ know what they are talking about then it is a scam. The problem with this site is that scammers can communicate with you. All in all. Just be smart. I have met real people off of there you just have to be lucky.

  22. Kay says:

    Good pointers, Tim, thanks!

  23. Shirley says:

Well what I have heard so far is great. It is at least getting people out there communicating and eager to meet someone. It’s alot better than sitting at home alone. I know how great it is to log on my Gmail and see that there are emails awaiting to be replyed to . I am greatful that I was a lucky opne meeting that great man of my dreams. We have vbeen together 1 year Oct,4,08 and are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together. We are a great match, I know that we will spend the rest of our lives together . We are that much of a match,he lights up my everyday. THese are not words of imaturity. The present time in my life I know what I want and am willing to work hard to get it.So don’t give up hope and the best advise I can give is be Honest and make sure to express yourself in complimenting ways.Good Luck.

  24. Kay says:

Thank you Shirley, we love getting comments like this! I met my sweetheart a year ago October 3rd.

  25. Steve says:

The SinglesNet site is mostly fraud, in my opinion. I purchased a 1 month period, and got nothing but spam and scammers. I cancelled the account, but they continue to charge my creditcard each month. I have filed a dispute with the bank, as SinglesNet will not respond to my queries.
I generally received over 50 messages a day, all fake. About half asked me to extend my subscription! In each case the related profile had no picture and was basically void.
I would not recommend this site to anybody!

  26. Kay says:

That’s really worrisome, when they keep charging your account. I had that happen with Yahoo Personals a couple of years ago. I finally cancelled the credit card and then I got a nasty email from them. Thanks for sharing your experience with singles.net.

  27. Robert says:

    Kay,
I tried the one month deal for singlesnet and cancelled after less than two weeks. I was getting hits from mostly african imposters. I could imagine some cubicle enterprise of them all day long pooring their heart out and laying sob stories. Fortuneately, I never used my real name on the site and the credit card I used is a netspend, so if I don’t put money on it it’s useless. And one thing I found peculiar is these individuals from Guana or whatever were able to contact me, yet I could not contact them. If singlesnet could block my access why don’t they block theirs? It made me think they are in on the scam getting kickbacks maybe. I wouldn’t recommend this site to anyone. Thanks.

  28. Kay says:

Robert, you were so smart to use a virtual credit card!

  29. Jerry says:

This sends me profile of ladys who they say are interested, so I bey a membership, write the ladys and now Im block, no responce. fuck this site, thier scammers

  30. al says:

After a free run on this bogus site. has anyone gotten 150 hits in five minutes? this site is a joke. dont join, some goof who owns it controls the email hits

  31. anthony says:

a few years ago i joined it and it was fine with me, now over years it may have been turned into a junk/spam scam site. but i did meet my wife on there..

  32. Kay says:

    @anthony – that’s great!

  33. Shannen says:

As with anything you haqve to be skeptical about who you are talking to. I’ve seen the scammer on this site, but I’ve also been on a few dates with real nice people.

But my biggest complaint is their billing practices. I signed up for a one month p aid membership, just to give the site a try. What they say in the small print is that unless you cancel you membership they will bill your account for that amount monthly. Now if I wanted this I would have just signed up for the cheaper longer memberships. Instead you are getting the same service they offer for a cheaper price, but at the inflated one month membership price. I’ve asked for a refund on my last month charges, and am still waiting on a responce.

  34. dazzled says:

@Shannen – I’ve had that problem with several of these sites over the years. You have to stay on top and cancel your billing a few days in advance.

  35. Jessica Rabbit says:

I had a terrible experience on Singles.net where I was constantly bombarded by fake flirts. It was confusing because I knew 90% of them were not genuine because they didn’t reply to me when I messaged them. I went to ReelSpark.com and they claim to have a video verifying system, but I am mean let’s be honest, if people want to lie, they will lie. Atleast with reelspark they are attempting to fight fraud instead of facilitating it like shit harmony and other mega million dollar crook schemes.

  36. Michael says:

The site is a scam. Noticed the profile details on members who send you flirts. Two people from two far different regions of a state with identical profile details “flirting” you within minutes of each other (?). Red flag! Obviously an inside job. Of course, these profiles never have a member photo. They’re fake profiles. You get the point.

  37. Nia18 says:

I am a member on singlesnet and I went to the chatroom. A lady put on there that she had on no panties and I replied that that was nasty. We got in a quarell via IM and she reported me. I honestly don’t care but they need ot to let nasty trifling people like that on their site.

  38. freewriter says:

the site is a scam ive done research its of mostly nigerian men saying they live in america and they try to gain ur trust then ask for money once a “problem” has happened. my mom just got scammed there and almost lost $400 dollars…. the profiles are FAKE!!!
please no one go one it
