What Were They Thinking?

image So, for fun, I decided to go through some profiles and see what common problems or weird things I could find. Now, I had intended to go through 100 guys dating site profiles, but I only made it to 50 and my list was getting long.

First, the search: I used my personal account and my actual search criteria (single, straight men in my geographic area, between the ages of 28-36), and I went directly through the results, skipping no one, and reading every profile. See how much I love you, our readers…

Writing a Dating Profile – Objectively

Writing your profile I needed to focus on work and family for a while, and just did not have the energy to actively seek out new relationships; after this self imposed dating hiatus, I am ready to get back out there.

You would think that a gal who writes for a blog called Successful Online Dating would be a whiz at getting a profile up, and that the emails and contacts would be flooding in.

Writing a Profile is Hard

However, while I am updating and reevaluating, I am finding that it’s very hard to objectively look at my own profile. While I know what I should and shouldn’t be doing…I can’t always tell if I’ve done it.

10 Dating Profile Remarks That So Turn Me OFF

image Okay, I admit I’ve been in a pretty snarky mood since I discovered my “soul mate” was not all that after all.

Back at looking at dating profiles, I’m seeing the same stuff that SO turns me off!

Granted, this is all from a woman’s point of view, but Mandi and I would love it if one of you guys did a corresponding guest article about women’s dating profiles.

Let’s get started:

  1. I’m handsome… Damn, I sure couldn’t tell from your pics, thanks for letting me know!

Online Dating – A Small World After All

small worldOne of the reasons I like online dating is the somewhat more anonymous nature. Rejection is easier – because you never have to see that person again.

Or So You Think!

What happens when you come across a profile of someone you know from OUTSIDE the online dating world?

Do you

  • message them and see if you hit if off?
  • ignore them and pretend you didn’t see it?
  • secretly look at their profile and hope they look at yours?
  • delete your profile, blow up your computer and move to Antarctica?
